Hard at work.

Being in the position I am today has totally been a dream come true. Ever since I was eight or nine, I have always wanted to be part of the media industry, whether it pertained to radio or television I didn’t care as long as I was part of something BIG. As I grew up, most of my attention was geared to music. I never really had a genre I didn’t enjoy… okay I take that back I’m not a country music fan…anyways back to my train of thought. I am from a diverse background my parents are originally from West Africa (Ghana), but my brother and I were born and raised in Pasadena, California! I’ve always had white, black, Hispanic, Asian, Malaysian and African friends (did I forget anyone else?). All my experiences with these people played a significant role in what I listened to then and now. For example, have you heard any Japanese Hip-hop or hard core Jamaican reggae (I’m not talking about “Christafari” or anything like that…)? These were the types of cultural differences I embraced, which makes my experience at POWER FM more enjoyable.

It all started in the summer of 2004 when I applied to be an intern at the station, I met with Kristal with the “K”, and a couple days later I was part of the team. My responsibilities included working with their sister station at the time, 91.7 KVTT, during the week and volunteering my time with Power FM on the weekends…it was a long summer, but every single moment was worth it.
Having the opportunity to work here has been the hand of God, I honestly never imagined I would be receiving a phone call from Eddie a couple months after my internship was over about “possibly getting a shot at the mic.” That possibility turned into reality. If there is anything I can encourage or inspire you to do when you have a dream that sometimes friends, co-workers and even family may not believe in...always remember to be faithful, have your goal in sight, do not worry about criticism (you can never runaway from that) and do not forget to put God FIRST. Don’t worry I know I am not perfect (a lot of my friends would definitely agree to that) but I’ve learned through testing that God will fulfill your dream as long as you put him FIRST!!

That’s enough of my Sunday morning sermons for today, but here’s a dose of what I do when I am not at the station. I live in the Grand Prairie/Duncanville area, I intern at an incredible church in Dallas (Gospel Lighthouse Church) where I am involved with the youth group (Code Blue Student ministries…Big Shout-Out to them!). Apart from all that, I have a loving family who is heavily involved in the ministry. My parents are Doctors/Missionaries/Pastors...a weird and unique combination which I will explain later if I feel like it. My younger brother, who I love to death, is extremely funny, athletic, handsome (watch out ladies!!!) and has big dreams to be somebody important in the world.
Let’s see… what else can I add to this page to make it more interesting if I haven’t bored you already…. oh I have a deep love for the arts, laughing at random situations, being loud, doing wild & crazy things (most of the time they are stupid, but I don’t care) and playing Christian rock music from Power FM baby!!! That’s all I got little boys and girls. Keep your Head up.
